I'm Glad I'm Saved Because ...

Bill Brinkworth

Getting saved is one of the greatest experiences one can ever have. There are many good things that come along with having God’s promise of heaven. I am so glad that I am saved:

*Because I am going to heaven. All through the Bible there are many verses telling its readers how they can know for sure that when they die they will go to heaven. All they need to do is trust that Christ’s finished work on the cross is payment for all their sins.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

*Because I’m tired of being on the losing side. We have all probably experienced being the last one picked for a sports team; making a decision that turned out to be the wrong one; or found out that a politician that you really thought would stand where you wanted him to stand did not do what he said he would. It has been very disappointing to be in a situation that was certainly the wrong one due to our wrong choices.

God knows the truth in all situations. Unless He allows them for our spiritual growth, we will have less disappointments in our life if He is leading. Our Father knows best and is more than willing to share His wisdom with us if we ask. We are born into the winning side, when we are born-again. No matter what happens in our life, including death, we will be victorious.
“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Cor. 15:54-57

*Because it has been so exciting to be saved and serving. Before I was saved, I thought the Christian life was boring and uneventful. Now that I am saved, I realize it is the most exciting, action-packed life I ever could have hoped for. I have been able to see the mighty, “impossible” things of God being done on a regular basis.
“ Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” Psalm 68:19

*Because I love to see God work. One of the best things about being saved is seeing the mighty things God has done. From seeing what seemed impossible answers to prayers; to hearing the people that should have died in a week are still living many years later; and even hearing how God has healed and mended a hopeless, family problem. His hand is not slack in accomplishing miracles on a daily basis. (Teacher, embellish this in several of the mighty, “impossible” things he has done in your life).
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Luke 1:37

*Because I love to see prayers being answered. Before I was saved, I knew I was supposed to pray every day. and I did; but I never saw any answered prayer, and thought that was how it was supposed to be. After I got saved, and started to pray, I saw that things were different. I learned that prayers did go up to heaven and all were answered. Some prayers were answered quickly; some were answered after many, many years. Numerous prayers were not answered the way I preferred, but God does answer prayer.
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1
“But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:19

*Because I looked for truth my whole life, and I am happy now I have finally found it. We have all followed the wrong advice sometime, and have seen the failure it has brought. We may have felt the frustration of following the multitude, and then discovered it was the wrong direction. Our opinions and the opinions of others, although often well-intended, are not always the truth. People and circumstances can be misleading and even deceitful. God, however, is the only One that knows the truth. No one can hide it from Him. The most wonderful thing is he is more than willing to give it to you, or let you read it in His Word. You need only look to Him and trust Him for it.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.” Psalm 25:10
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:46

*Because I am humbled that a Holy God would want to use me and does. The mighty God, who spoke this world into existence, commands the angels and seraphim, and has led the greatest leaders to magnificient victories, has a purpose for all that are saved. That includes you and I.
“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” John 12:26
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2

*Because of all the godly friends and acquaintances I have met. When I was first saved, it became apparent that I could no longer fellowship with many of my old friends, because their lifestyle would be detrimental to my spiritual growth. It was hard making the decision to leave old friendships, and I had to break off many relationships. I was sure that I would be lonely, but I quickly learned that being born into the family of God would mean that I now had a very, large family with many brothers and sisters. All of my dearest friends now are also Christians. Fellowshipping with other Christians in His house and in his work, has allowed me to meet some of the nicest people I could ever have met. Along with the many other new friends God will give you, Jesus becomes your best friend of all.
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverb 18:24
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” John 15:14

*Because I want to make a difference. All want to make a difference in this world. Many visualize they can make that difference with fame or finances. Not many achieve their goals. All saved people, that are obedient and serve God, will make a difference. As slight as one thinks his task is for the Lord, he will find great satisfaction in this world and the next by following His instructions.
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference:” Jude 1:21-22
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.” I Corithians 3:12-14

Getting saved does not guarantee one will not have problems in life. All have problems; there is no avoidance of them. Being a child of God does have a lot of benefits; including many that will help you through life’s difficulties. There are many, many blessings in being born-again. It is the best thing that could happen to anyone!
