Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out
of thy law."

Ministering to the military in Charleston, South Carolina

The Charleston Challenge:
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Act 4:12

December 2007

Dear Prayer Partners and Supporters,

The past three months we scheduled time to report back and present the military ministry to new churches. We love meeting Christians and come away knowing our God is working and alive everywhere. Sometimes our tunnel vision needs to REMEMBER there are Christians everywhere and that the work of God goes on in every land and group of people. At this time of the year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are happy to meet people everywhere who love and serve the same God and Lord as we do.

God did bless with an increase in our support to help the work here with the servicemen and women. Traveling did not take up all our time. While back at home we visited in the Military Housing area and met many new couples, some of which have visited the church. Revisiting these and meeting new couples keeps the presentation of the Gospel fresh in their minds. It seems we are reliving our younger, military days when we were religious but lost. We were trying to be good enough to be accepted by God and were deceived as many of these couples are. God was patient with us and He never gave up until both Georgene and I acknowledged that we were sinners going our own way. One week apart we surrendered and accepted Christ as our personal Saviour. Knowing the patience of the Lord with us helps us to be patient with these young couples.

Even though we traveled on weekends it did not prevent me from conducting the Tuesday and Thursday Bible Studies in the Brig. We have had several new inmates come out to the studies along with the continued attendance of our faithful men. To God’s glory one of our prayer requests has been answered. We have been given a lap-top computer for use in the Brig studies. It has been a real help in quickly giving the men sound Bible answers to their needs and questions. Please pray for the inmates we work with. There has been a strong attack on young Christians from the Muslims in the Brig. They blaspheme Christ and lie about what the Bible teaches. These men need the Lord’s Word and strength to stand for what is right.

I do ask prayer for Georgene. She has developed pain and tingling in her left arm. An MRI showed some problems in the cervical area of her neck. She will see a neurosurgeon on Dec. 18 th. She is very busy and this has slowed her down quite a bit. We went door knocking Saturday afternoon and she stayed until the pain was too much to handle. This slowdown has had a positive side; she is able to spend her time reflecting on God and His goodness and His purpose for her at this time.

We do thank you for your faithful prayers and support this past year. May God continue to use you in a mighty way for His glory.

Prayer Requests:

  • Wisdom for doctors to treat Georgene’s illness.
  • Continue to pray for Tracy (new convert) as we seek a good church for them in the Groton, CT area.
  • Pray for her husband Ben who needs the Lord as Saviour.
  • Pray for several other couples we have met and have been witnessing to.
